Welcome back. This is the start of another very important and very busy term. A lot of exciting things have taken place this week; 25 visitors came from China to observe high quality provision in PE, especially in Football. Their visit included observations of PE lessons where football and health related fitness were delivered, and a tour of the academy. The feedback was extremely positive and they were impressed by the PE provision, the students and the wider academy.
The Sale Sharks also visited yesterday and pupils were involved in a game of Tag Rugby with them, before a Maths lesson on financial expenditure. Pupils looked at needs and wants, where they can save money, and how businesses can make money. At the end of the day, 2 players came in to meet the pupils as Katie (Year 7) was the 10000 student they had worked in this programme.
This is a really important time for Year 11s. They have a week of learning, a week of revision, and then their Mock Exams. It is important that they ask their teachers for the correct revision materials and plan their time wisely.
I would also like to introduce our new Deputy Headteacher – Mr Birrell. He will be looking very carefully at the curriculum and making sure we have the very highest standards and expectations.
If you get a moment, please visit our brand new website. Thank you to Mr Langshaw and
Mr Berne for all your hard work with this.
On a final note, it is Bonfire Night this weekend. Please enjoy the celebrations but think very carefully about the dangers of fire and fireworks and make sure you keep safe.
